Will Carsola (born Virginia, 1979)
Love Is In The Air, 2019

Love Is In The Air, by the American artist, Will Carsola, belongs to a series first exhibited in France under the title “Lovey Dovey Doodle Days in the Sky”, in which he pictures ways of expressing love through activities like holding hands in the sky, kissing in the sky, and going for walks in the park, in the sky. These works are part of Will Carsola’s ongoing investigation of what happened to him in the sky in 1997. During a hot air balloon incident with his lady friend, it is said that a green flying beast by the name of “Glexordorgonthxorz” appeared out from the center of a cluster of clouds in the shape of a pentagram. The beast gave them infinitely recyclable tallboys of ice-cold mountain spring water, then proceeded to rip off their legs and perform a puppet show with them to a group of Trolls in the forest that then became very entertained and sexually aroused. Ultimately, it is said that the Trolls each made love to Will Carsola’s ears, laying eggs inside his mind, and nine months later, his mind began giving birth to great ideas for paintings — about love. In Love Is In The Air, the artist wanted to explore mankind’s greatest question, “Why is love always in the air with a green flying beast named Glexordorgonthxorz?” The artist seems to point us in the direction of an answer — it’s has something to do with some Trolls.
